During Safer Business Action Week (13–14 November 2025), Sevenoaks officers carried out proactive “Days of Action” in partnership with local businesses and community stakeholders. Our focus was on tackling retail related crime, anti-social behaviour, and improving public safety. Key Outcomes for the intensified days of action: Retail Crime :- Multiple arrests for theft and related offences, including offenders charged and remanded for shoplifting.
- Additional arrests and sanctions for driving offences and public order incidents linked to abuse to shop workers at retail premises in Sevenoaks town centre.
- Several offenders voluntarily attended interviews following police contact, with community resolutions issued where appropriate.
Anti-Social Behaviour:- Police worked with local businesses and schools to identify youths causing nuisance and damage after hours at one particular store in town. ASB warning letters issued and one individual was excluded from a store through the Business crime reduction partnership (BCRP).
Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG):- Police promoted the Ask for Angela initiative across licensed premises in Sevenoaks, providing posters and training materials to staff. All venues engaged positively and committed to supporting the scheme.
Business Engagement:- Police hosted an online Business Crime Forum, strengthening partnerships and improving communication between businesses and police.
- BCRP lead joined officers for proactive patrols in Sevenoaks town, reinforcing collaborative efforts to reduce crime.
PC Nick Hubbard said: Kent Police remain fully committed to tackling retail related crime and supporting local businesses. Through enforcement, prevention, and partnership working, we aim to protect shop workers, reduce theft and maintain public confidence. Initiatives like Safer Business Action Week demonstrate our determination to make Sevenoaks a safer place for businesses, employees and customers. |
